SARGENT AND GREENLEAF INTRODUCES NEXT GENERATION OF BANK SAFE DEPOSIT SECURITY
Advanced, Biometric Technology-Based System Provides Fully Automated Security Solution Increasing Individual Asset Protection and Staff Productivity
September 25, 2006
San Diego, CA., (ASIS Booth # 1002) - Ushering in what is expected to contribute to a new standard in bank safe deposit security, Sargent and Greenleaf (S&G), a subsidiary of Stanley Security Solutions, Inc., today introduced the TouchVault™ solution, a secure, self-service safe deposit access system. The TouchVault™ system offers financial institutions an advanced, technology-driven biometric solution that creates one of the highest levels of safe deposit security and efficiency while enhancing customer convenience.
Sargent and Greenleaf will be providing a demonstration of the TouchVault™ system at this year's ASIS International 52nd Annual Seminar and Exhibits in San Diego CA., September 25- 28 at booth #1002.
The TouchVault™ system is a fully automated safe deposit banking solution that employs the latest in secure biometric fingerprint technology to authenticate customers and control day gate access. As a result, the TouchVault™ solution eliminates the need for traditional safe deposit keys, allowing unescorted box access and, subsequently, lowering costs by improving efficiency and staff productivity.
Unlike traditional mechanical safe deposit access and security systems that typically use a key management architecture combined with staff oversight, TouchVault™ technology employs one of the highest standards of authentication today, fingerprint biometrics, that leverages the unique identity of each individual in order to protect individual assets and reduce the bank's potential liability. In addition to the biometric identification platform, TouchVault™ technology incorporates a PIN code access component, thereby offering two levels of authentication.
Among the many benefits of this configuration is the ability of TouchVault™ to remedy a common issue with today's safe deposit access and administration, the incidence of users attempting to access another customer's safe deposit box after having gained access to the vault.
The TouchVault™ system prevents these occurrences by issuing an electronic key device to the user that enables access to their safe deposit box only. If the user tries to gain access to any other box but their own, the key light flashes red and the TouchVault™ software, while denying access, also records the event in the audit trail.
The software is also able to generate an audit trail report of all recorded events from the moment the safe deposit box is rented until it is relinquished. This creates a closed loop of custody which greatly reduces the liability of the financial institution.
"The self-serve biometric access to our safe deposit boxes that the TouchVault™ system provides allows our members to conveniently access their boxes without requiring any assistance, freeing up our staff to handle other members needs," said Jim Deegan, president and CEO of APLFCU. "In addition, our members appreciate the ability to access their box without having to have a key with them, which includes the added benefit of not having to worry about losing the key and paying re-keying charges. In addition, we do not need to maintain a key inventory, enabling our system to run seamlessly without any intervention on our part."
"The introduction of the TouchVault™ system represents a significant advancement in bank - safe deposit security," said Phil Pitt, marketing director for Stanley Sargent and Greenleaf. "Utilizing fingerprint biometric access control and our encrypted one-time use code technology, the TouchVault™ system offers banks one of the most secure self service solutions available.
"The unique synergy we share with Stanley Sargent and Greenleaf is well reflected in the TouchVault™ system, which we view as a logical marriage of complementary technologies," said David Delgrosso, - president of US Biometrics, a Stanley Sargent and Greenleaf partner in the development of the TouchVault™ system. "Our industry leading biometric offerings combined with Stanley Sargent and Greenleaf's proven platform solves the very real challenges financial institutions face in terms of keeping costs under control while increasing security and convenience for customers."
Other TouchVault™ System Features:
• TouchVault™ safe locks are UL® 437 listed;
• TouchVault™ locks are encrypted with one time use codes that change each time a box is rented;
• The TouchVault™ solution includes software to perform customer enrollment, box rental, administration and reporting;
• Enrolling customers is simple and fast and is performed on a standard PC;
• A centralized database is easily populated from bank records and contains all customer safe deposit transactions.
